Syria cont'd

Yesterday Baba went to the dollar store to get money rolls for all the money that Yusuf has collected.  This morning after breakfast the four of us (Ibby too!) sat down, sorted, counted and rolled all the change.  [We could have just gone to the grocery store and put it all in those machines that do it for you, but this way there was more involvement and learning :) ! ] .  MashaAllah the total so far is $583.  This has all been due to Yusuf's effort.  I must say I am inspired and proud of the courage he has... its not easy going around asking people for money but his determination to help his brothers and sisters in Syria has given him the motivation to do so!
May Allah SWT always guide him and keep his heart soft towards helping his brothers and sisters around the world and continue to make him an inspiration for us, Ameen! <3

Garage Sale

Once again weve been keeping super busy and I havent had much time for myself, let alone the blog. So heres what weve been up to. We recently had a garage sale to raise money for our playgoup. Alhamduliah we raised over $100 and the kids had a great time. Yusuf's favorite part was selling lemonade. He also loved giving people change. Three weeks later hes still talking about it = )

Money Circle Time

Today we did a circle time about money.
After our usual things we do : surahs, songs and books, we read a book about coins. Then we opened Yusuf's money bank and sorted all his coins.

After we sorted and counted it all, we used vinegar and salt to clean the really dirty pennies with a toothbrush.

We then used a pencil to rub the imprint of the coin, and stamps to make a collage.

Later today when Baba gets home, we will be going to the bank to open an account for Yusuf. = )
